Team Highlight: Leading Change Africa Welcomes New Accelerator Coordinator

We are thrilled to announce a new chapter at Leading Change Africa with the warm introduction of our new Accelerator Coordinator, Alfousseiny Maiga. Alfousseiny joins our family with enthusiasm, ready to spearhead our commitment to nurturing and elevating our Accelerator programs.


Alfousseiny Maiga holds a PhD in plant breeding and genetics from the University of Ghana (UG), the West African Center for Crop Improvement (WACCI), a Master II in plant breeding and genetic resources (University of Ouagadougou) and a Master II in agronomy (IPR/IFRA, Katibougou, Mali). He was a researcher at IER and now joining Leading Change in Africa as Africa’s Accelerator Programm Coordinator. A former expert and consultant in Agriculutre at IPRODI, Mali, Malifolkcenter, Icrisat and NGO's.


He helped train a new wave of researchers, technicians working to improve staple crop varieties in Africa and particulary in Mali to ensure food security and comatting malnutrition. His role extends internationally as expert assessment and costing breeding program at IER, ISTAG, Mande Bukari and Boubou SOW. He is a member of African Plant Breeders' Association (APBA), of which he contributes his expertise to various international boards around the world.


Maiga's work has earned him several publications and communications, including in the internationals, local journals and seminars. His works allowed to develop new biofortifies varities in Mali and then registered in the national catalogue.


Dr. Alfousseiny Maiga has made significant contributions to the field of plant breeding, value chain, agronomics practices, and agroforestry, through his research, publications and community involvement. His work has led to significant advances in the creation of more resistant and sustainable plant varieties, responding to the current challenges of global agriculture.


He am well-equipped to train farmers, producers both independently and collaboratively and also facilitate an inquiry and have the ability to convey complex information in a way which producers can easily understand and have dominant experience adopting peculiar training methodologies documenting all new technologies, organizing healthy discussion.


Please join us in extending a heartfelt welcome to Maryanne Oduor as our new Accelerator Coordinator. With him at the helm, we anticipate a dynamic shift in our operations, propelling Leading Change Africa into an era of unprecedented growth.
