Educational Advisor

FULL TIME, NON-EXEMPT, TEMPORARY
MADISON, WI
The Educational Adviser is responsible for keeping a precise record of a students' academic progress and meet with students periodically to provide feedback and guidance toward successful completion of a degree program.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Keep precise records of student coursework.
  2. Schedule and meet regularly with advisees.
  3. Study necessary paths to degree attainment, depending on discipline and educational level.
  4. Assist students in course registration.
  5. Provide counseling for students working with difficult courses or life challenges that may interrupt degree completion.
  6. Provide written documentation upon request.
  7. Transfer necessary documents to different departments, schools, or districts upon request.
  8. Effectively communicate institutional standards for graduation.
  9. Other job related tasks as assigned.
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Master's degree in education or counseling as required by hiring institution
  2. No experience necessary for entry-level positions
  3. Most be highly organized and capable of handling multiple caseloads
  4. Knowledge of database software (such as Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)
  5. Strong attention to detail & organizational skills.
  6. Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  7. Strong communication skills
  8. Effective listening skills
  9. The ability to work with a diverse group of students of different ages
  10. Proven ability to work independently
